2. What we collect

We don't receive your full card number; Stripe handles it.
3. Your photos and faces
Used once, to make your video. Not for recognition, not for training.
- Photos are used only to generate the video you asked for.
- We don't create face templates, faceprints or other biometric identifiers, and we don't use photos to identify or recognise anyone.
- We don't use your photos or videos to train AI models. We only use AI providers' business APIs whose terms do not allow them to train on what we send.
- Automated safety checks screen uploads for things our Acceptable Use rules prohibit, such as minors, nudity or public figures.
- Photos are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Upload only yourself or adults who have agreed. If you upload someone else, you are responsible for having their consent.
4. How we use it
- to sign you in and run your account;
- to generate, store and deliver your videos;
- to process payments, manage credits and prevent fraud;
- to send sign-in links and service emails (for example, "your video is ready");
- to keep the Service secure and enforce our Terms;
- to understand which pages and trends are used, so we can improve them;
- to send product news, but only if you opt in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
5. Legal bases (EEA and UK users)
- Contract: your account, generating videos and billing.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, abuse moderation and basic analytics.
- Legal obligation: tax and accounting records, and responding to lawful requests.
- Consent: marketing emails and any non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
6. Who processes it
We share data only with service providers that help us run MakeMeme, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing their service to us:

Your photo is sent only to the AI provider used for the trend you choose. Each trend page names the model it uses. We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply.
7. International transfers
Our providers process data in several countries, which may include the United States, Singapore and China. Where data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.
8. How long we keep it

10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data and your account;
- object to or restrict some processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent you've given;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm your identity first. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
11. U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have the rights to know, access, correct and delete their personal information. We do not sell or "share" personal information (as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act) and do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Use the contact details above to make a request, including through an authorised agent.
12. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest with our storage and database providers. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it. Uploads and outputs are stored privately and served through expiring links. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
13. Children
MakeMeme is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children, and our rules prohibit uploading images of minors. If you believe a child has used the Service or appears in content on it, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.
14. Changes
We'll post any changes here with a new effective date and record them in the version history. For material changes, we'll email account holders before they take effect.
